About us
The Confucius Institute at the University of Vienna is part of the Innovation Center University of Vienna GmbH, with the mission of teaching the Chinese language and culture, as well as promoting dialogue between the cultures and societies of China and Austria.
Reflecting Vienna's cultural diversity, our programs are designed for the general public, businesses, and also for students, schoolchildren, and children. In addition to a wide range of language courses for Modern Standard Chinese and the administration of officially recognized Chinese language proficiency exams (HSK, YCT, BCT), the Confucius Institute also offers diverse workshops on Chinese cultural practices and the Chinese language. Furthermore, we regularly host lectures on China, both past and present, by recognized China experts and renowned academics. We also regularly organize events in the fields of art and culture – from music, painting, literature, film, and architecture to customs and lifestyles.
With our expertise in Chinese language teaching, workshops on various China topics and over 70 events annually, the Confucius Institute at the University of Vienna sees itself as a place of encounter and a bridge between Austria and China.
